Youth Cricket Coaches Needed

There is an opportunity for club members to attend coaching courses over the winter to obtain a UKCC Level 2 coaching qualification. We desperately need more coaches to enable us to sustain our current level of activity in the boys section. This is a great opportunity to obtain a valuable coaching qualification and to help develop the Nondies players of the future. The club will subsidise the cost of the course in return for your committment to help with the youth coaching programme. If you are interested please contact me (mailto:jbrown1uk@yahoo.com) and we will try and get you on the courses.

There is a UKCC1 coaching course running on Sundays, during November 2011. This is the only one planned for the close season and is a great opportunity for any parents or youngsters from 16+ who wish to assist with coaching within their club, to attend. This is a fully complete course as it includes CRB checking, First Aid and Child Protection.

Nondies Make Final at Great Tew 6-a-Side Competition

Nondies put up a credible performance in the prestigious Great Tew 6-a Side competion on Bank Holiday Monday. They were drawn in a group with Banbury Town, Cumnor and Sandford St Martin and succeeded in winning all their matches with something to spare. The highlights were the highest score of the day, 84 in 5 overs against Sandford, a hat trick for Ayaz Khan in the same game. Then in the match to decide the group winners, Shabaz Alam took 3 wickets for 5 runs in his one over against his former club Cumnor, as they were bowled out for 20.

The final saw Nondies up against a strong Horspath side, who had also gone through their group matches undefeated. Batting first, Nondies struggled to build momentum as Horspath bowled well with the pink ball and caught even better. James Green being particularly unlucky to see his exorcet pull plucked out of the sky at deep square. Nondies finished on 44, their lowest score of the day. Not needing to take any risks, Horspaths openers pushed the ball into the gaps and got home with an over to spare as the light closed in.

This was Nondies first invitation to take part in the competition and we can now look forward to going back next year. Horspaths vorciferous fans created a great atmosphere, while the chairman kept a lonely vigil on the boundary. Maybe next year a few more members can experience this day of festival cricket at the beautiful surroundings of Great Tew!

Failure to pay by the end of the month will result in the amount being increased to £60 and £30.

If you would like to pay directly into the club account please contact the treasurer andy.grose@openwork.uk.com for details.

Nets

REMINDER - Under 17s nets take place on Tuesday nights at 6.30pm until 8pm.  Contact Garry Adamson - thadamson@yahoo.co.uk for more information.

Outdoor Senior net practice continues on Wednesday nights throughout the season and is a part of the selection process. A full copy of the club selection policy can be found in the club information folder on the left hand side of this page.

The Pavilion Refurbishment

The latest pictures of the new pavilion with scorebox are below. The external work is all but completed and the internal work is under way. There will need to be a major effort from club members to help with the final decoration in the spring. Watch this space! This has been a £50,000 project that has been managed by Chris Bishop and his foreman, Tommy Coombes. They have put in an enormous amount of work on your behalf. It is a statement of the ambition of the club to become the best in Oxfordshire and we need the help of members to ensure that everything will be completed by the start of the season and that we have a facility of which we can all appreciate.

We now need to raise some funds to finish and equip the scorebox and we will be announcing the details of a scheme where members can sponsor a brick to help get us over the line.
