Rogered Out

Running with Roger is a right of passage for any Blondies player and has proved to be a baptism of fire recently for our antipodean visitors (a bit like the nettles).

But it was Neil Remnant who when finally finding form after a return to cricket and a lean few months, coined the phrase "Rogered out" and altered the scorebook to this to more accurately reflect the circumstances of his dismissal.

On meeting during the winter of 2006 Neil and I discussed having a teeshirt made up to hand out to the unfortunate victims of this curse.  So following Neil's death in Spring 2007 as part of the plans for the memorial game it was agreed to commission a teeshirt.

What truly amazed us all was that it took until halfway through the season before the curse struck, Roger hesitated and the teeshirt had to be awarded.  What came as no surprise was that it was an Aussie desperately trying to get back on to strike who was sold down the river.

Andrew 'loopy' Chambers said "Jeeze skip, it's like running with a wallaby with a jigged leg, mate".  We all commiserated of course........  Andrew was awarded his teeshirt proudly (?) by Roger during Tea ot Brackley on the 28th July.

So Andrew is the first, but certainly not the last....look out it could be you!

Malcolm 'skip' West, 4ths captain
